What It Look Like If It Snowed in Hawaii?

50 years from now, everything will be different.  5000 miles away from where you're reading this, something is different. What do you think it isCould you describe it? Details are very important in boosting creativity. For example, I could describe a baseball stadium in two ways.

One Being: There is a large building with many people in it, cheering for their team to win. There is a big screen, delicious food, and a team mascot. The player steps up to the plate, and hits a walk-off homerun, sending his team to the playoffs.

The Other Being: The evening sun settles down on an 11,000 square foot masterpiece, holding 50,000 screaming fans. As the team captain is shown on the massive, LED big screen, bright flashes of camera lights sporadically come and go throughout the stands. The fumes of hotdogs and peanuts fill the stadium as he steps up to home plate.  Suddenly, the crowd goes dead silent. A pin dropped can be heard. Trying to peer over the fan in front of him, home plate isn't visible for the young boy. The crack of the bat is heard around the world, similar to that of a piece of oak being yanked off a tree. It's a distinct sound. The baseball gets lost in the starry sky, and suddenly lands in the boy's overly-sized  leather glove that his father gave to him. The stadium sounds like 50,000 people just went down the drop of a roller coaster- and straight into the playoffs.

Notice the difference? Both were the same scenario, but the second one had much more detail. This makes it more enjoyable to write and to read. If you want to be like the first one-fine. But just know that you won't have the creativity to come up with details like the second example. So that's why I hope you're here. As you can see, details play a HUGE role in distinguishing a boring essay (or idea, etc.) from a great one. This exercise will help you realize that it's fun and easy to come up with details for almost anything!

I'm going to give you a list of random questions that you won't know anything about. That's the point. When you are told to write about something that you have no clue about, the gears in your brain really start to grind. Think long and hard, and write an answer to the best of your ability, with as much detail as possible. It's simple: the more detail you put in, the more creativity you will get out of it.  Remember, have fun with it! If you aren't, nothing will be achieved!

1- What will movie theatres be like in 2050?
2- What does the inside of Dr. Seuss's house look like?
3- What would it look like if there was (somehow) a snowstorm in Hawaii?
4- What does an alien from Mars look like?
5- What is it like on top of the Giza Pyramid?
6- What do fireworks look like when watching them from above?
7- How does pizza in Italy look like and how does it taste?
8- Describe the new color that is added to the rainbow in 2035.
9- What does rain look like for the first time?
10- What will cell phones look like 20 years from now?

As always, if you want my take on any of these questions, feel free to comment and ask. I would be glad to share my details on each of these questions. I want to know your details also! Remember: Every single detail you add is like plugging in another key in your brain. Try to visualize the scenarios because it will really help you become a more imaginative and creative person. Please share with your friends. I hope this exercise helps you become more creative! Thanks!

The Coolest Inventions You'll See In... Forever

Here are some crazy, awesome, unique, and creative inventions that I bet you didn't know existed. These should get your creative juices flowing around in your brain for use. Sometimes, inspiration comes out of nowhere, like for these inventions. Pay attention to them and you could become inspired to make something truly incredible too!

Treadmill Climbing Wall. Speaks for itself- simply genius . A great workout for your upper and lower body. Rock-climbing is a big enough workout, let alone a treadmill on top of that.  I wonder if you could invert it and become Spiderman!

Tetris Connect Four. What a great idea- it combines people's two favorite games. This also seems more challenging than either of the 2 games. Hey, what do you know? It's a connection! (Check out my previous article on how to make creative connections- http://howtoflytothemoon.blogspot.com/2015/03/creative-execise-2-connection-is-key.html)  They should make a Battleship Checkers. That would be fun!

A pen that writes in the same color of the object you scan. This is probably my favorite. It's the ultimatum of creativity! Something like this is what I dream about- to be able to scan anything in the world and write with that color! It's futuristic and truly inspiring. The possibilities are endless. They could put this technology in things like paint, markers, and basically anything else that writes or draws. This is inspiring creativity at it's finest.

Shoot your alarm clock to turn it off.  Bullseye! Finally, something that will actually get me out of bed. I've always tried to think of a way to actually get out of bed when my alarm clock goes off, but I never could. This inventor had the right creative door open in his brain. This makes it fun to wake up, and hard to get back in bed (I'd imagine it's hard to shoot). I would love to get my hands on this.

Spilled Paint Lamp. In my opinion, this is quite interesting. Look closely, and you'll notice that it is a lamp. This is most certainly a very creative object. I can easily imagine this in people's houses, adding a little jazz to their home. I would buy one for my room. When I look at it, it just screams creativity. The fact that it's not a normal lamp, it's bright blue color, and funky shape all are unique. Maybe they can make a lamp that looks like someone poured gasoline and sparked a fire. (I know it sounds weird, but it would make for a cool design.) This is a great, creative design and invention.

I hope you became inspired by these innovative inventions!  Take some time to look in detail at the creativity of them. Each of these inventions have endless opportunities! There can be renovations to each one, and new inventions can be created as well.  Remember that when you are trying to think of a new creative idea or invention. Once you come up with a great one, you can keep working off of it and create new/better innovations because of that one idea.

Which one of these are your favorite? Are there any cool ideas or inventions you know or came up with? I would love to hear them! Thanks, and be sure to comment share with your friends!!

One Small Connection Can Lead To 100 Bigger Ones

A big key to becoming creative is to make connections- any type of connections. Big or small, simple or extreme, or even better, come up with a little story based on those two things. Anything that you come up with is most certainly better than nothing. Never believe it's impossible because your motivation will go down the toilet.  If you are motivated to become creative, it will come true. Simple as that. Sure, it is hard, but there is a connection with everything and no reason not to come up with one. This is another great exercise to open another creativity 'door' in your brain. Here are some examples- I'll give you my take on this one. Remember: the more you think outside of the box, the more creative you will be. Think hard, but don't overthink.

Hmm. Mario and a soccer ball. Well, Mario had a soccer video game- that's a connection, but a simple one. What if Mario can use a soccer ball to save Princess Peach? Let's think about that.  He makes his way to Bowser's castle, knocking each guard down by kicking them with a soccer ball. Uh oh! They are throwing shells at him. So Mario kicks soccer balls at the shells, destroying them in mid air. He finally makes his way to Bowser's dungeon (where Peach is) but Bowser is in a goal guarding the door. Mario kicks it, and it bounces off of Bowser's belly right back at him. As Mario looks down in shame, his brother Luigi comes out of nowhere and smashes the ball with a bicycle kick. Yeah that's good. Bowser, get back to the bench. Mario now walks into the room and saves Peach. She hands him something- a trophy with a soccer ball on it.  As Mario leaves the scene with Peach, Luigi decides to pursue a career in professional soccer after he realized how awesome his kick was. He goes on to win the 2018 World Cup with Italy. The end!

Out of only a soccer ball and Mario, I came up with his brother saving the day and becoming a soccer player. The soccer ball became Mario and Luigi's new fireball- that was my true connection. But I got a whole short story out of it! Sure it was hard, but the harder you think, the more creative juices you get flowing in your brain. The key to this connection exercise is to think out of the box. Most importantly, whatever your first instinct is, ride with itIf you are bored in school, try this exercise. Pick any two objects you see and elaborate on them as much as you want. Here are some more examples- Have fun and get creative!
Lemonade
And a Dragon

And Sand
Hot Sauce

A book
And an Ape

Let me know your connections! I'm sure every single person will have a different story. If you're stuck, feel free to comment and ask for help and I would be glad to share with you what my connection is. Please share this activity with friends and family and come back to my blog every day to learn how to be more inspired and creative. Thank you!

All It Takes Is 1 Month To Create 50 New Ideas

Every night right before you go to sleep, write down 1 thing you noticed that was cool or 1 thing you did that you had fun doing. Don't think about it during the day- creativity will not just come to you if it's all you are thinking about.  By the end of the month, you will have a list of 30 AWESOME things that YOU thought were cool. In order to become more creative, you need to worry about things that interest you, not others. If everyone was interested in the same thing, life would be awful! There's a reason we like different things, so take advantage of it, and write them down.
(If you noticed 2 awesome things during a single day, feel free to write them both down, but don't stress yourself out about having more than 1 per day.)
You will be amazed at how easy it is to find something cool from that day.
For example, here's a list that you may have during the course of one week:

1- Had mustard on a hot dog for the first time- loved it!
2- Petting that golden retriever was so much fun!
3- I studied before 9 o'clock for my chemistry test today for the first time
4- I got a 100 on my chemistry test!
5- Chewing gum really kept me awake during English class today
6- I like how my friend has a green wall with blue stripes
7- Chicken pot pies are delicious, especially the one I had for dinner. Are there Steak Pot Pies? I would love that!

Looking back at your lists,  ideas will fly in and out of your brain.  Some ideas that came through my mind from this list are:
I should try making a steak pop pie
I could write a story on a green golden retriever with blue stripes
I should try studying before nine, while chewing gum
Would mustard taste good on steak?
Can dogs eat steak?
If I had a golden retriever, I would teach him how to chew gum :)

The list is endless. And I guarantee while reading this you had totally different and creative ideas. Which is great! That's the whole point of this exercise- to open up a new door in your brain and realize that you can be creative. You just have to 'flick' the right switch.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Try out the exercise for yourself and let me know how it goes in the comments! Don't forget to share this with your friends and have them try it out too. Thank you!!!
